




Through a joint venture with Procter & Gamble, Teva Pharmaceuticals has become the owner of P&G’s South Swing Road plant in Greensboro.
Teva, which is based in Jerusalem, has a direct presence in about 60 countries. The partnership between the Israeli pharmaceutical company and P&G is designed to give Teva a stronger North American manufacturing presence while opening up international markets to P&G’s personal health care lines. Teva employs 40,000 people globally, and the 200 workers at the Swing Road plant will become Teva employees through the new venture.
The Swing Road plant will continue to manufacture P&G personal health care products such as Dayquil, Nyquil, Pepto-Bismol, and Vicks products. Teva’s president and CEO, Shlomo Yanai, said in a statement, “This partnership will create value by immediately expanding the number of channels and geographies in which each company’s [over the counter] products will be sold.”
P&G will continue to own and operate its manufacturing plant in Browns Summit, where the company recently completed the first of two $2.9 million expansions. The Browns Summit plant employs approximately 650 people and produces Crest toothpaste and antiperspirant and deodorant lines.The partnership between Procter & Gamble and Teva Pharmaceuticals went into effect on November 1.
