Cultural Mainstays

     
  • Eastern Music Festival  founded in 1962, is an internationally-acclaimed classical music festival. With it's growing reputation and extensive schedule featuring some of the world's greatest artists, Greensboro 's Eastern Music Festival has become one of North Carolina 's top summer attractions

  • Greensboro Ballet operates a non-profit School of Ballet in addition to annual performances of The Nutcracker.

  • Greensboro Opera Company has been producing classic operas, like The Barber of Seville, Madame Butterfly, Carmen, and Faust for more than 20 years.

  • North Carolina Shakespeare Festival  has been producing the world's great classics, particularly the works of William Shakespeare, since 1977. It operates as a full professional Equity theatre and is recognized as an important North Carolina cultural, artistic and educational resource.

  • Greensboro Symphony Orchestra recently hired an internationally acclaimed conductor who plans to continue the Symphony's commitment to community outreach and youth involvement programs.

Theater

  • Carolina Theater plays host to a range of stage productions as well as film screenings, musical performances, and ballets.

  • Triad Stage is a nationally recognized regional theater, bringing offbeat, thought-provoking performances to the community.

  • War Memorial Auditorium at the Greensboro Coliseum is home to the Best of Broadway Series that brings touring shows like Mama Mia, Rent, Cats, Phantom of the Opera and Shakespearean Festival right to your back door.

  • The Broach Theatre is the longest running professional theatre in downtown Greensboro. This theatre is a winner of the Berilla Kerr Award for Outstanding Contribution to Contemporary American Theatre. One of the most popular mega-hits performed at the Broach Theatre is Always Patsy Cline, which is based on the true story of Patsy Cline's friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger.

  • The Barn Dinner Theater is the oldest dinner theater in the country.
