Greensboro Economic Development Alliance Announces Procter & Gamble Expansion

Greensboro, NC (June 26, 2007) – The Greensboro Economic Development Alliance (GEDA) is very pleased to announce that Procter & Gamble will invest $19 million to expand its facilities in Greensboro.

The company plans to hire approximately 25 new employees and invest in new machinery and equipment over the next year.

P&G is the world’s largest consumer goods manufacturer with several well known everyday products such as Pringles, Tide, Pampers, Crest, and Old Spice. P&G currently employs over 800 people in its production facilities in the Greensboro area.

“P&G is one of the most admired companies in the world,” GEDA President, Dan Lynch commented.  “Winning this new business is a wonderful opportunity for Greensboro and Guilford County to partner with the company as they grow.  This is exactly the kind of advanced manufacturing technology that GEDA wants to flourish here.”

“This project will allow us to continue to grow our business, and expand our operation in Greensboro.” said Brad Andersen, the new P&G local plant manager.  “As a newcomer to the area, I greatly appreciate the strong support from the City Council and the Guilford County Board of Commissioners for our company”.

The Greensboro Economic Development Alliance worked closely with P&G by facilitating incentive requests and supporting the company throughout the expansion decision process.  GEDA is pleased at the team effort that made this project possible and extends special thanks to local elected officials.

Greensboro Economic Development Alliance’s (GEDA) mission is to facilitate the creation of high quality jobs, attract new capital investment, retain and expand existing businesses, improve per capita income and generally improve the quality of life in Greensboro and Guilford County. GEDA is a member of the Greensboro Partnership, created to develop a vibrant community that expands and attracts business while advancing the quality of life for all.
