Ameritox, Ltd. Opens for Business in Guilford County

June 9, 2010 (Greensboro, NC) – Ameritox, Ltd., the nation’s leader in pain medication monitoring solutions, has begun operations in a 70,000-square-foot new laboratory and material analysis facility in Greensboro.  This is the company’s second laboratory operation in the United States, in addition to a location in Midland, Texas.

“We are very excited to open our second full-service laboratory and bring new, well-paying jobs to Greensboro, which offers us an abundance of talented and highly-skilled professionals,” remarked Ancelmo E. Lopes, Chief Executive Officer of Ameritox.  “The new facilities increase our processing capacity and allow for continued growth, supporting our commitment to help the nation’s physicians improve patient care and treatment outcomes.”

At full capacity, the company will employ 228 people performing cutting-edge pain monitoring testing on thousands of specimens annually.  The company chose Greensboro because of its deep talent pool, progressive educational institutions, and strategic East Coast location.

“The cutting-edge research being conducted at Triad-area health systems, well-trained labor force, and outstanding educational assets make Greensboro and Guilford County an excellent location for life sciences companies,” commented Dan Lynch, President of the Greensboro Economic Development Alliance (GEDA).  “The decision by Ameritox to site their new laboratory here validates our industry cluster strategy and proves that our efforts to attract high-tech companies are working.”

GEDA worked closely with Ameritox representatives throughout the site selection process, with strong support from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the North Carolina Community College System and BioNetwork, Guilford Technical Community College, the North Carolina BioTechnology Center, and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  A member of the Greensboro Partnership, Greensboro Economic Development Alliance’s mission is to facilitate the creation of high quality jobs, attract new capital investment, retain and expand existing businesses, improve per capita income and generally improve the quality of life in Greensboro and Guilford County.
