Greensboro And High Point Economic Development Groups To Hold Joint Meeting

October 20, 2010(Greensboro, NC) – As a testament to regional cooperation, the Greensboro Economic Development Alliance and the High Point Economic Development Corporation will hold their second Joint Board Meeting in Greensboro on Tuesday, October 26 at 7:30 a.m.  The meeting will be held at the American Express Operations Center, 7701 Airport Center Drive. 

“Each and every time a company locates or expands in Guilford County, it is a win for the entire region,” commented Dan Lynch, President of the Greensboro Economic Development Alliance.  “Our goal in holding these joint meetings is to continue to find ways to collaborate, increase our tax base and create new job opportunities.”

“While our two groups have worked together in the past, the pace has increased impressively in 2010,” said Loren Hill, President of the High Point Economic Development Corp.  “We held our first joint board meeting in May in High Point.  Since then, our two staffs have worked even closer, which led to the recently-released Community Profile 2010-2011, a joint High Point/Greensboro marketing piece showcasing recent announcements, state and county data, and local attractions.” 

The Oct. 26 meeting will include:

  • an update on the High Point Market from Brian Casey, President and CEO of the High Point Market Authority; and
  • a presentation on how global economic development issues affect the local economic climate by guest speaker Ed McCallum (McCallum, a nationally known site selection consultant) is Senior Principal of McCallum Sweeney Consulting in Greenville, South Carolina.
