Greensboro Economic Development Announces 2007 Sucesses
January 8, 2008 (Greensboro, NC) – 2007 was a very good year for economic development in Greensboro. In fact, it was one of the best years in recent history. With over 1,499 new jobs announced, 841,000 square feet of new industrial space, and a capital investment total topping out at $260,000,000, local economic developers feel they are making a positive impact on Greensboro.
“2007 has been an outstanding year,” commented Dan Lynch, President of Greensboro Economic Development Alliance. “Our job and investment stats are up, we are casting a broader net to market Greensboro, and we have focused our efforts by honing in on five specific industry clusters.”
The strong job numbers were generated by both new companies choosing Greensboro for the first time such as Honda Aircraft Company, Lenovo, and ZINK Imaging and by existing companies such as RFMD, P&G, and Kay Chemical. Greensboro Mayor Yvonne Johnson commented, “Greensboro has wonderful corporate citizens in a variety of industries that want to grow here and help make the city an attractive place for new companies to locate. The work of the folks at Greensboro Economic Development Alliance has been an integral part of moving this community forward.”
