Greensboro Economic Development Partnership welcomes Legacy Paddlesports

Greensboro, NC (June 28, 2006) – The Greensboro Economic Development Partnership (GEDP) is proud to welcome Legacy Paddlesports, a manufacturer of high-end composite kayaks and canoes, to their new location at 6012 High Point Road in Guilford County.

The company plans to hire approximately 244 workers at an average hourly wage of $18 ($729 weekly) and invest about $2.45 million in new machinery and equipment over the next four years.

“We are excited to bring Legacy Paddlesports to Guilford County,” said GEDP President Dan Lynch. “They are going to provide excellent manufacturing jobs that will help local workers and we greatly appreciate their investment in our community. With the company's strong environment-friendly focus, I am confident they will be an outstanding corporate citizen.”

Legacy Paddlesports will share space with DaimlerChrysler Commercial Buses, retaining this important U.S. headquarters and 100 existing jobs in Guilford County.

The Greensboro Economic Development Partnership worked closely with Legacy Paddlesports by facilitating incentive requests and supporting the company throughout the expansion decision process.

GEDP is pleased at the team effort that made this project possible and extends special thanks to the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, Governor Mike Easley, the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC), and Duke Power for all of their support to bring Legacy Paddlesports to Guilford County.
